What’s this all about?
Well, it’s a blog experiment where writers answer the same ten questions about their upcoming works.
Thanks to Alex Hughes for linking to me in this blog experiment.
What is your working title of your book?
The working title is SNIFFERS, but I’m not completely in love with it. Last weekend I was at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with my daughter and in the Contemporary Art wing I saw a painting titled “Untitled”. I’m very jealous – why can’t I name this book “Untitled Book 2”?
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Now that Darcy and Olivia are getting some real training, I wanted to test what they’d learned and put them into more danger. I also wanted to see how they would work when separated from each other for a while.
What genre does your book fall under?
This is a paranormal mystery.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Darcy and Olivia are identical twins, but Darcy goes to lengths to make sure she isn’t confused for Olivia. I’m having a hard time coming up with an actress that would fit both characters. I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments.
Bruce McGill would make a great Broadbent.
Fraser, in my mind, looks like Dominic Purcell (with hair).
Sue Ellis looks like Rooney Mara, but maybe after she’s been awake for a week straight.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Darcy and Olivia must fight a private army of sniffers to keep their city safe.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I am self-publishing this book.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I’m closing in on four months to write this book.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
My tiny little sub-genre of telepathic investigators is small, if you believe the search results. One really great book that has a telepathic protagonist is CLEAN, by Alex Hughes.
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
The characters themselves inspire me to write this whole series. I like these two young women and want to find out how their lives work out.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
We get to see Darcy and Olivia coming into their roles as investigators, and starting to get the inkling that they’re going to be major players in the telepathic community as well. We see just the beginnings of what they’re capable of with support and guidance.
